Redesign of a Battery Frame
Following fire damage to a rail grinding vehicle, the existing battery frame was so severely damaged that it could no longer be used. The frame therefore had to be completely redesigned and subsequently replaced.
A new design was developed based on the existing installation configuration and the available connection and mounting points. The goal was to make optimal use of the available installation space while ensuring the batteries were securely held in place and providing good accessibility for installation, maintenance, and future replacement.
In addition to ensuring a precise fit within the existing vehicle, special consideration was given to the high mechanical demands of rail operations. The new design was engineered to be robust and vibration-resistant and was tailored to withstand the stresses caused by driving, braking, and impacts.
Once the design was finalized, the new battery rack was manufactured and the damaged component in the vehicle was completely replaced. This resulted in a technically sound and durable solution that integrates seamlessly into the existing vehicle structure.
