Running gear for the airship hangar

With its generous space, the WDL Mülheim Airship Hangar not only offers room for an airship, but its breathtaking atmosphere also provides plenty of scope for unique event ideas.

We would like to thank the WDL Group for their trust and are proud of our contribution to this landmark building.

The versatile multi-purpose hall and the spacious outdoor area offer ideal conditions for events of all kinds and sizes. For use as a hangar, there are two doors on one side, each with an area of 400 m², which can be opened across the entire width of the hall. When open, an airship can then enter or exiting.

Each of the gates, weighing 72 tonnes, rests on a running gear with a maximum load-bearing capacity of 120 tonnes and is supported by a pivot point at each end of the hall structure. Curved rails are embedded in the floor to serve as a track for the wheels.
